Month of Bacon: Bacon-wrapped Sausages

I am so excited for this one. This recipe comes from Emily. I asked for this recipe because I have been known to eat many, many of these in one sitting... or shuffleboard game. Or whatever. The smell of these things cooking is enough to make a vegetarian contemplate eating meat. They should market a cologne that smells like these. I would like it.

Bacon Wrapped Sausages

Little smokies (however many you want)
Bacon
Brown sugar

Cut bacon in half. (I actually did thirds) Take a little smokie and wrap the bacon around it. Secure with a toothpick if you want. Place on cookie sheet. Sprinkle brown sugar over the top. (again however much you want. You may want to remove toothpicks at this time and put another in again after cooking but not the same ones because raw bacon) Bake in a 350 degree oven for half and hour. Turn oven to broil and cook until bacon is browned. Take out of oven and serve.

When I made these we wen't eating them right away so I used a crockpot after they were cooked in the oven. I put a little water and brown sugar in the bottom of the crockpot and then put the bacon wrapped smokies in the crockpot to keep warm. Pretty much a hit.

Yeah, pretty much. There are no leftovers. None.

This reminds me of when we'd cut hot dogs down the middle and load them with cheese and then wrap them in bacon.

Only different.

I once had bacon chocolate chip cookies. They were kind of interesting.

cw - Bacon chocolate chip cookies? Whoa. That's intense.

cash - No, I don't plan to. But dub is thinking of doing the green beans y'all won't believe.

JanD - Yeah, I think I ate at least ten of them yesterday.

julie - Probably, yes. At least, I know they were at shufflepalooza!
