Other People's Comments About My Love Life (or Lack Thereof)

If you've been single for any length of time, you've probably had a fair share of people make comments on your love life or lack thereof. And you've probably also noticed that some of those comments are HIL.AR.IOUS. And while I generally don't like to publish stories of my love life or lack thereof on the interwebs, I feel that some of the comments are really funny, and we should laugh at them. So, I may periodically post some of them.

Friend: It took you nine months to decide what car to buy and 4 years to decide what house to buy. How long is it going to take you to decide who to marry?

It is nobody's business but your own! You are awesome!

A certain someone we both know says she is above average in everything else, so why not in the age she gets married, too?

That is very nice of our mutual acquaintance to say.

Also, as a reminder, this blog is supposed to cause laughter, not pity. :)

What a great comment! Your friend is very observant and witty...Oh, I wish it would have been me. Very funny!

cause you know, you're the only one who makes the decision. Has nothing to do with a guy or anything. My mom used to say I shouldn't get married till I was 24 (her age), but when I reached 24 and wasn't dating someone, she started to tell me she hadn't REALLY meant it. And she wanted grandbabies. Sheesh!

Julie - Clearly this person knows me. I do generally take a long time to decide a lot of things. Glad you could see the humor in it.

Nice...

The other day one of my siblings gave me a fortune cookie that my 2-year-old nephew opened. It's about romance in my future. I suppose they thought it was more likely suited to me than to him.

The thing is... I liked it. :) But, I'm sure there are plenty of comments that have bugged me... just can't think of any good ones right now.

Another certain someone we both know (and who has a rocky marriage herself) once said to me in response to my lack of anxiety about getting married, "But Dub! Marriage is a COMMANDMENT!!!"

Maybe that doesn't seem funny to anyone else, but I still giggle every time I remember it.

Hee hee! These are funny! I'm glad you guys are sharing some stories yourselves.

Also, is this a good time to mention the time Cash's friend asked, "But who will drive you to dialysis?"

Cash said...

Dub, I assure you that the commandment line is funny to me, too.

Cardine, I totally remember Ruby's dialysis comment. After she said it, she and her father tried to set me up with her dad's former mission companion (age 55) who doesn't go to church because his wife got a brain tumor and ran off with his brother or something. (... But he's a doctor and he's rich!) At any rate, Dub told me she'd drive me to dialysis so there went that argument.

Cardine said...

Yes, hilarious. ...and the comment was assuming that you would actually ever need dialysis in the first place. Oh, and also, you're now married to an awesome guy who is not 55, would drive you to dialysis, and goes to church regularly. And also helps you make awesome homemade games to give me for my birthday!
