Sugar Pie, Honey Bun

So, yeah. Because of Indy's post, I have decided to not eat sweets for an entire month, starting with March 15 and ending on April 15. Well, there are actually more reasons than just her post, but I think the post gave me the extra push that I needed to do this. One of my coworkers is joining me, and I hope to be able to accomplish the goal. I think it'll be good for tax season because I spend an excessive amount of time in a chair during this time of year.

Actually, it reminds me of the juice fast that went on in the blogging world. I remember that the juice fast post that Julie wrote was the first real blog post that I had read (with exception to the movie blog, which is rarely updated anymore). That was the post that caused me to want to blog. So, then I signed up and started a blog. So, indirectly, the juice fast inspired my blog. I didn't participate in the juice fast, and in fact, I have only recently become aware that there were more than two people participating. Anyway... I am excited for this month thing because I've done it before, and I felt really happy about it when I did it. Lately I've been having excessive chocolate cravings, so I figure that this month will help me tame those chocolate cravings.

Yeah, so that's it. If you feel like joining, that would be great. It could be like an AA meeting on my blog, only about sugary sweets. For me, it'll mostly be chocolate. I wonder if they have online quitting smoking or drinking or drug sites? That's really not a bad idea. People could go on and when they feel the cravings, they could post a comment, and people can share each others' pain and listen to each other and help each other to accomplish those goals. They probably have those sites, but I don't feel like figuring out if they really do. Anyway. I need to go stuff myself with chocolate in preparation for the 15th.

Good luck with your goal! I know you can do it. No, I won't be joining you, but I'll provide as much support as I can give.

Thanks! I'm glad you're not big into revenge. Remember when you were starting the juice fast, and I e-mailed you to tell you that the Garden House soup of the day was your favorite one? That was terrible of me.

That was funny/horrible! I almost did exact my revenge, though, and now I'm going to, sort of. On Wednesday one of our sales reps brought us Lindt truffles. I was partaking of a dark chocolate truffle as I wrote my last comment and was going to mention the fact, but decided to not, didn't want to rub it in. Since you brought up the subject, though, and since your fast hasn't technically started yet, I decided to mention it. :)

So it's kindof like your own personal Mardi Gras/ Lent.

I personally think Mardi gras is about the stupidest idea ever.
It reminds me of planned repentance. Or overindulging to make up for any unindulgence that one might suffer.

Of course these days no one really cares about the repentance part,
Mardi Gras is just a good ole fashioned base activity for the indulgence of every mortal appetite.

but as to your sugar fast,
aren't you more of a salt snack kind of person anyway?

well either way good luck.

Yes and no to the salt snack thing. For example... chips. I don't like very many chips with flavoring. But, if they're plain with just salt, mmmmmm. I can stand cheetos, but I don't really care for cheese-flavored potato chips. It's weird, I know. Oh, and I'm not a fan of Sun Chips of any kind, Bugles, and I have to be in the right mood for pretzels.

So,.... I guess basically, my point is that when faces with an option of Cooler Ranch Doritos or anything chocolate, I pick chocolate to snack on. So, if things were available that I like, such as ... regular potato chips, I would probably pick the chips.

Yeah, even when I'm reading it, it doesn't seem to make any real logical sense, but since when do food tastes, anyway?

By the way, I updated that silly sunburn photo that I mentioned in my post about Lines in Paradise. Check it out.

Ahh yes I can see it now.

I think I will start a little health goal of my own. I'm going to try to go to bed by eleven, at least until april 15th.

I guess that means I should start wearing a watch again.

I should have that sleeping goal, too. Oh well.

(Also, I should mention that you didn't get to bed by 11 last night because you were busy being beaten by Mel & me at a game.)

Good luck...I had stopped eating candy after college because it was messing with my blood sugar, but since I was pregnant I've become addicted to it again. I guess its lucky that most the kinds I like aren't fattening, but I should probably be careful about the sugar thing.
I wish I could go to bed earlier. WE usually make it to bed by like 1:30... but I blame it on Joseph's work schedule right now. We can't just got to bed right when he gets home, right?
I didn't really understand Lent until I moved here. Well, I still really don't. But I was surprised when people were giving up sugar or meat or different things for the liturgical stuff that happens before easter. I didn't know people did that.

Yeah, I guess I'm having my own personal Lent. That's how my coworkers are referring to it, anyway.

WOW, Cardine, I think you're so brave! Best of luck--it's gotta be good for you.

I LOVE it and I am wishing you all the luck in the world. Long Live Self-Mastery!

when you move the page really fast, the sides of your blog are really trippy! ( Have I used that word since middleschool?)

Ah... Splenda.

Yeah that eleven thing...
I still think it is a good idea,
but I guess I still need some work on it.
It won't be easy, but I think it will be good for me.

So, how is it going?

It's going fine. It's hard to remember that I'm doing it sometimes. This weekend I realized how sweets-oriented we all tend to be. That's too bad. We don't need it, and sometimes we don't want it. Sometimes when offered with healthier choices, we tend to go for the healthier choices. At least, that's how it seems sometimes.

Let's get together this weekend, sans sweets. I'm thinking of taking a trip to St. George to pick up a car part. Want to come with me and hit Samurai 21?
