Ode to Esther

I get attached to people when they have been a part of my life. I also sometimes get attached to stuff that has been a part of my life for some time. I sold my car, Esther, this month, and seeing as how Esther has been a part of my life since 2003, I was quite attached to her. So, as tribute to her, here are some memories of Esther.

Love at first drive
Red display
Her breasts and love handles
Wendy's on the parking garage
Hitting ice on the freeway
Jezebel
The Grand Canyon (both rims)
Trips to Yellowstone
Trips to Zion
Trips to Bryce Canyon
Being stopped and searched in Mexico
The alien incident
Albuquerque adventures
The Land of Desolation
Driving my nephews around
Temple trips
The windows, oh, the windows
Football trips
Las Vegas
Havasupai
I-15
The 'seat enema'
Mexican powder candy
The ash tray garbage can
The jelly bracelet
A perfect view of the stars
Hoover Dam
Hiking, hiking, hiking
The horn
The CD player
Sunsets

Esther, it's been a great adventure. Thanks for all the good times.

I will miss Esther, too. She was a good, faithful car, and I have a lot of great memories of her.... like that one time you let me borrow her and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the alarm. (Embarrassing!) I hope you have found her a good home.

Good bye, Esther!

(And... uh, some of those items in the list spark my curiosity!)

She was a good car. I remember lots of good conversations with you (and sometimes other people) while sitting inside her.

So, what are you driving now?

I'm so glad you added driving around with your nephews. I hope it was on the good memory side of the list.

Also, don't forget the 'dangling' side view mirror!

Yay! Other people liked Esther, too! That is pretty funny about the horn, dub!

Sarah, I'd be happy to tell you about any of them.

Julie, I also enjoyed the conversations! I bought a Camry and promptly spilled cherries all over the inside. Whoops!

Of course driving with the nephews is fun, banana! And yeah, the Christmas sideview mirror was awesome. That was a good experience since my neighbors confessed to it. They were great neighbors.

Oh, I loved Esther! I forgot about the "seat enema" and Wendy's on top of the parking garage was always fun. She was a great car!

Flaur - Totally fun. I hope you're pleased that the "seat enema" has maintained its legacy!

Tearese - Sadly, no.

Sad, yet also happy to hear you moved into something new. Enjoy it!

Your posting brought a smile and many memories to me. I wanted to add a few to your list myself.

Looking forward to a posting about your new car, including pics!

Your poem's definitely a fitting goodbye. Sometimes, we get too attached with our belongings just like as if they're people. But now, you can look forward having a new car of your own. Let's hope Esther's new owner treats her as fondly as you did.
