April 30 - Dia del Nino

I was tagged to do one of these by Framed. I'm not a huge fan of passing it on, so just do it if you feel like it. All of this information I derived from Wikipedia.

Three historical events that occurred on April 30:
1. In 1492, Spain gives Christopher Columbus his commission of exploration.
2. In 1789, on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York City, George Washington takes the oath of office to become the first elected President of the United States.
3. In 1966, the Church of Satan is founded.

Besides me, three people who were born on April 30:
1. In 1896,
Hans List, Austrian inventor
2. In 1933, Willie Nelson, American musician
3. In 1946, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden

Two significant deaths on April 30:
In 1945,
Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun commit suicide after being married for one day.

Two April 30 Holidays or Observances:
In Vietnam, Liberation Day
In Czech Republic, Carodejnice (witches' night)

My birthday is the same day that Frodo wakes up in Rivendell. I had forgotten that, but Wikipedia was so kind to remind me of this important fact about fictional characters in fictional lands during fictional times.

Church of Satan huh? Maybe that's why you look so much like that girl in the haunted house, eh?

That's funny that you mentioned that, Cassie! My coworker just referred to my Tower of Terror twin today!

Cash, that is so weird that they have the Lord of the Rings reference in there.

I'm wondering if there is some correlation between the Church of Satan and Carodejnice.

That's three of us who have dictators that died on our birthdays. Stalin died on my birthday, Hussein died on Booklogged's birthday, and Hitler died on your birthday. That's a weird coincidence.

I was wondering if there were some sort of correlation between The Church of Satan and Hitler's death!

Among us we seem to have a powerhouse of dictator deaths.

This has nothing to do with your post, but I noticed that your day to end your sweets eating has passed. Are there any girl scout cookies left?
