Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?

Have you ever seen those commercials on television where there are two people communicating via cellular telephone, and then suddenly one of the people gets cut off (the call is lost) at an awkward moment? ... Just checking. I mean, I was wondering if you've seen it.

Anyway.

Dub and I were telling each other stories the other night when we were visiting with each other. I like to hear quirky stories about my sisters' lives. Especially the stuff I don't know about. I've decided to start another posting theme on my blog. I will tell stories and they will all end with "and she (or he or I or they) never heard from him (or her or them or me) again." If you would like to submit a good story, e-mail me at my gmail account. The address is cardinesblog. Don't forget the "@gmail.com" part. And here is the first one:

Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?

Once upon a time, there was a sassy and stylish gal who lived in Memphis. Her name was Dub. She had an awesome job in a famous place. She got to do all sorts of exciting things during her job, such as getting naked, showering, and putting thin paper suits on. But that's beside the point. Famous people came from across the nation to her workplace. Oh, and she was also on TV sometimes. But, that's also irrelevant to this story.

Dub is, by nature, a very kind and friendly person. She likes to include people and help them if they need help. (She also clothes me sometimes. I am grateful for this because I hate shopping.) One day there was a nice guy named Roger (from North Carolina, I think) who came to town. Dub befriended him and would take him to night classes and/or activities at the local church institute of religion. They were just generally pals when he would come to town. They got along well, and they had fun together.

One night, Dub got a call from Roger. He was coming to town and wanted to do stuff with Dub. Unfortunately, right at that moment, Dub accidentally hung up on Roger. Also unfortunately, Dub didn't actually have Roger's phone number, nor was she using a cell phone, nor did she have caller I.D., nor could she call Roger back to explain what happened. ...and she never heard from Roger again.

That's really sad.

I'll try to think of some stories. The only ones I can think of pertain to the dating scene as well... I'll have to keep thinking.

Happy Birthday! I totally remembered that it was your birthday when seeing this post because it is right after my mom's!

Those kind of stories are the worst. They totally illustrate the point of those commercials. (Which were kind of funny at first, but are getting annoying after so many viewings...)

Poor Roger. I still cringe when I think about that situation. Maybe by some miracle he will read this blog and realize that the story is about him and that I didn't mean to hang up on him. Roger? Roger? Are you out there? It was an accident! Just a stupid accident! Please don't be bitter toward all women because of it!

Happy birthday, Cardine.

Funny, Tearese. Thanks for the link to the International HP trailer.

It seems like I was supposed to update my sidebar with a link to something, but I can't remember what it was. Anyone?

Thanks for the birthday greetings, everyone! ...and Jill: the funny thing is that I was reading my journal from my freshman year of high school or whatever, and I had mentioned in it that it was YOUR birthday the day I was writing!

Dub, thanks for letting me write this on here!

Cardine, I seem to faintly recall you mentioning putting something on your sidebar, but I don't know what it was. Or, I could be faking a memory (I like to do that to myself at times, without telling myself, of course).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Did you get my email? Presents were prohibited, so a "homemade" card was the next-best thing. I hope this is a great year for you.

P.S. I had tons of fun on Saturday. Unfortunately, I'm still craving sushi. sigh. :)

Okay, that is kind of funny. Strange the little details that we remember or note from time-to-time.

Happy Birthday, Cardine.

I love those commercials except for the one who says she's the new sheriff in town. I think her name is Roger and I hope I never hear from her again.

So, my downstairs neighbor had a birthday a few days ago. She has three children. The oldest is 8 years old. She was born not only the same day as you, but the same year.

Happy Birthday!
