And Often. And By Someone Who Knows How.

A few days ago I watched "Gone with the Wind." I've noticed that when I'm watching the movie, I tend to identify with Scarlett O'Hara in some ways. So, I thought I'd compare myself to Scarlett.

1. Scarlett is pretty much heartless throughout the whole movie. She doesn't love the men that she marries. And while I don't have every guy after me like she does, I also don't think that I really love. We are both mostly heartless. She just has tons of guys. So, I guess I'm glad that I don't. It would be really stressful.

2. She doesn't treat Rhett according to how she actually feels about him. She really loves him, but she doesn't do a good job of showing it. While I don't have anyone I really love, I could totally see myself being like that.

3. See the title. Rhett was right about her, and he would be right about me.

4. Scarlett becomes interested in becoming really rich and/or being in a business that prospers. She does stupid things, like driving through a scary part of town because she is independent and doesn't need help. I am kind of like that. If I can do it, I don't really like to ask for help. But I am trying to be better about it.

5. She loves Tara and gets her strength from being home. After I finished the movie, I realized that I really love my home. It is my true love. I can recharge when I'm at home. When I think of a good vacation, I think of spending some time in my bed. I just love being home.

I've only seen that movie once, so I don't know who I'd identify with. Though I sometimes feel I'm a bit unfeeling too. And mean to my husband. I'm trying not to be.

I would like to participate in your poll, but I have only seen it once, as well... I don't have a clear memory of all the characters.

I'm sorry that you feel those things about yourself. You are better than you think you are.

We've talked about this before, but I'll repeat myself - you are not heartless! Just because you don't easily "fall in love" doesn't mean you're heartless. You are a fabulous, thoughtful, giving, loving friend - the antithesis of Scarlett! I can see the part about her loving Tara. I feel the same as both of you. Currently, my home is the love of my life. I'm kind of looking forward to my surgery recovery because I'll be home all day for a week! Sigh.

I voted that I identify with Rhett Butler. Mostly because lately I feel like the more passionate, responsible, and (I hate to say it) manly one in the relationship.

Amen to the title!!!!!

You do say 'Tomorrow is another day' kind of a lot.
But no, if you are an ice princess like Turandot or Scarlett it doesn't mean that you can't/wont fall in love. I hope I get to be around when you finally get swept off your feet and fall in love like a ton of bricks.
If I were a character I'd probably be that 'No good low down white trash Emmy Slattery' or SueEllen--the old maid.

Wow, Cardine, I always thought I was the heartless one, not you. I'm probably most like either Rhett or Scarlett, I guess. I'm not pansy or selfless enough to be some of the others (depending on who you choose).

tearese - I love that you are real. Thanks for keepin' it real.

sarah - I don't think I'm a horrible person, but I can acknowledge some of my weaknesses.

julie - Thanks for voting for Rhett! Awesome! And, I don't think you're manly.

miranda - I hope you voted for Suellen, then. :)

cash - Yeah, I didn't think that you were heartless. Maybe a little Estella from Great Expectations, but ... no, not heartless.
