I Made It!
Now is the time of year when people are so happy about accomplishing things, such as graduations with university degrees, etc. Well, I didn't graduate this year, but I am happy to have accomplished something that's pretty big for me. What did I do?

How timely, Cardine. I was just mentioning to my coworker today that my sister is freaked out by stop-motion animation/claymation. I can't find a clinical name for it. Should we call it "claymationaphobia"?
I think it's actually correctly titled "Automatonophobia." Although, it doesn't specifically apply to forms of animation, but it's pretty much the same thing. And seriously... puppets, dummies, and ventriloquists: scary. All scary. And clowns. And people with too much plastic surgery. Aaaaaah!
Well, since there is no name for your specific condition, we should call it after you. How about "Cardine's condition"?
Wow, you made it through Corpse Bride? Tim Burton is pretty scary sometimes just by itself. I'm proud of you for facing your fear. Did you have any favorite parts or most scary moments?
I loved that movie! "Quiet down, we're in a church!" is one of my favorite quotes to use!
Well, actually, I thought that the plot was rather clever. I mean, some guy marries a corpse! That doesn't happen in every movie. I probably didn't get as much out of the movie as I should have; I admit that I really just kept thinking about the disturbing stop-motion. Why do they have to make some of the characters so creepy like that? The antagonists were especially creepy, but they were probably meant to be that way, what with their contorted face shapes and all. The title character was very ... um... I guess, beautifully artistic with the whole butterfly thing.
And yeah, Mellissa, that was a great part!
I just saw "Coraline" last week in the theater. I remember I kept thinking, "Cardine should totally see this." How long until you think you'll be ready for another one?
I saw that movie last summer. I thought some of it was a little creepy.
dub - I'm not sure. The funny thing is that I was going to see it with some friends earlier this year but then for some reason it didn't work out. I didn't realize until later that it was Claymationy, and it was like a huge relief that I hadn't gone with friends. I think I need to prep myself sufficiently to be able to watch them.
Yeah I used to think those shows were pretty creepy too. However after the billionth time of watching the Nightmare Before Christmas with my three year old I think I'm over it. I was very surprised that she didn't seem to find anything wrong with it at all. I think I remember liking the music in the Corpse Bride.
I don't have an issue with claymation but I don't like Tim Burton's work for the most part. So I avoided this movie for a long time, though not as long as you. :)

I'm glad you were able to watch it. I must admit I was a little hesitant to watch it, not because of any phobias, just that I'm not always a huge Tim Burton fan. Sometimes he's too dark for me. I liked this one, though, it was funnier than I expected. Woohoo!
