So, I don't know about you, but I totally go through phases in my life. It's like where I have a certain fad of hobbies or things that I like to do and spend quite a bit of time doing. In the past these phases have been things like tennis, staying up until all hours of the night, volleyball, lying in bed and watching TV/movies, golf, going to movies, reading, watching TV, eating out, riding a bicycle, hiking, workaholicking, traveling a few hours to a city and coming back in the same day, swimming at the pool, having dinner parties, going on cruises, etc. The weird thing is that I'm not sure what phase I'm in right now. I'm going through a little stint of belly dancing. Golf is kind of a phase for me right now. Playing the bass guitar is a little bit of a phase. But there is no extreme leader here. I think I'm going to figure out what phase I want to have and live it.
Do you go through phases?
What phase do you think I should have?
I mean, it's the summer, and I need this summer to have a title. Like, it should be "2009: The Summer of _______." What should it be?

The summer of sushi...
Practice rolling your own sushi!
Or just pick some other food dish and perfect it over the summer.
Love the belly dancing though, that's great!
Hmmm. I may have to think about it.
Why not Summer of Buying and Furnishing a New Home? Or Summer of Seeing Julie Every Weekend Possible?
Of neither of those, I'll second Jill's suggestion, as long as I get to cook with you. :)
Hmmm... summer of sushi sounds good. Thanks for the suggestion, Jill! I was actually thinking that I should learn how to make beef negamaki to perfection. It's so tasty, but I think I'd like to figure out how to make it the way I like it.
Julie - are you okay with learning how to make beef negamaki? We can stick some sushi in there while we're at it...
I could totally see you being a belly dancer. Haha.
I guess I had a reading phase for 15 years or so, it was the only thing I did with my extra time. Now I NEVER read anything thats novel-like, even though I always mean too.
I have been doing a lot of portraits for people the last two years. Maybe thats my phase right now?
And, you know, mom phase.
I would like to be in a nature walking/ hiking phase, but Joseph isn't so excited about it, and its a little hard right now.
I'd love to make beef negamaki! I have no clue where to start, though, so I hope you have a recipe or something. :)
Tearese, I can't believe that you aren't hiking 15 miles a day right now! Slacker. :)
How about "2009: The Summer of Claymation"? You could watch a Gumby episode every day after work. And on weekends you could invite lots of friends over to eat multi-colored Twizzlers and watch various stop-motion animated movies.
It would be such a memorable summer.
Sorry. I'm just kidding, you know. I do think it could be fun to have a movie or book theme for the summer. Maybe you could read great Russian novels and have "Anna Karenina" and "War and Peace" movie nights with friends while sampling Russian cuisine. Or you could watch the top 10 Westerns from the AFI's list. Is there a book series you've always wanted to read but never got around to? Lord of the Rings? Anne of Green Gables? Encyclopedia Brown?
I love Encyclopedia Brown! Do you remember that one mystery he solved because he knew the rules of restaurant etiquette? Hilarious!
Maybe it should be the summer of your new house. Buy a new item for it each week until you can move in.
Tearese - I have often thought that I have the belly of a belly dancer. However, I have found that I don't totally have the coordination of a belly dancer.
dub - Did you know that I don't particularly care for Twizzlers? I think I'm going to read Harry Potter 6 next and then tackle The Giver series. That's the plan, anyway.
Cash - I don't remember that one, but I do remember one that was solved because live lobsters aren't red. Also, next time you're in town, you should help me shop for some stuff for the house.
What about summer of inexplicably changing the phase you are in? That way you can do lots of stuff. Or does that defeat the purpose?
dub is funny.Haha.
I like the Summer of Sushi idea. I picked up a kit the other day. It's hard to find seaweed in KY. lol!
BTW, you're welcome to make it the Summer of Visiting KY. :) My blog makes me want to live in the country too. Or in my case never leave!
