Brett Favre
I just don't care anymore, and I guess I really didn't care in the first place. I have stopped believing that he is retiring. Stop, Brett. Just stop. And media, stop covering his indecisiveness.
Those John and Kate Reality TV People
I don't watch the show, and I don't really follow anything about it, but it is right.there.in.my.face.all.the.time. Enough! I don't care about their marital problems. This is out of hand, people! Why are we being forced to be updated regarding people's domestic issues, and why is it being treated as news?
American Idol Drama
I watched the show a little bit for a few seasons, but I am constantly bombarded with news here and there about who is doing what on the show. Argh! And people start talking about how the show is rigged? Well, DUH! My biggest annoyance with this one is that sometimes the local news station will air the American Idol results as part of their news program. Ack! It's like I can't get away from it. And why do we care about the behind-the-scenes?
The Health Care Debate
I think my biggest annoyance is that I feel like we are all sheep when it comes to politics. Remember that one time when everyone was all hyped up about how social security was going to be underfunded? Remember how there was going to be some kind of solution and then that issue died and was replaced by news of ... like, OJ's next arrest or something? Yeah, well, I'm pretty sure that issue was never resolved, and it really seems like everyone gets all hyped up and passionate about whatever issue is in the limelight that year. I feel like it's sensationalism.
What People Are Wearing
I don't care if it's the president, the pope, the queen, your neighbor, every single 30 year-old female, or the cat down the street. I just don't think that someone's outfit, no matter how ridiculous or how awesome, should make it into the news.

How about you? Is there anything you're sick of hearing about?

I agree. I blame 24 hour news stations, though they aren't the only ones who cover ridiculous things. They have to find "news" to report all day everyday, so they turn to things that aren't really news. I also blame the "American Public", whoever they are, that would rather hear about American Idol than North Korea.
However, being a sports fan, and particularly a football AND Brett Favre fan, I found his decision to not retire interesting (though I agree that it was over-covered). I kind of think it's lame that he un-retired, but I agree with something he said; it's his legacy to do with what he wants. Maybe he just really enjoys football and can't give it up even when he thinks he should. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Sorry, tangent. Though you DID introduce the subject! Teehee.
The picture of the rainbow dress made my day. It may not be news-worthy, but it was totally worth seeing.
I loved reading this post. It reminded me of all the things I hate about news. My frusteration with political coverage is that they always attack or support it, but they never talk about how it is going to be implemented.
Man, where can I get a dress like that! I should watch the news more often and get some fashion tips.
The only one of these I've been hearing about is the Healthcare thing. Maybe I just don't care enough about the pop culture news to notice it?
Oh, and I'm always embarrassed by how little US news covers foreign affairs...no one knows anything about the rest of the world unless it has to do with us, and its really sad.
Amen to all of it. It's the health care ads that bug me. I hate that money (and lots of it) is spent on propaganda.
Girls will do anything to achieve that hourglass shape. :)
Julie - I agree that he can do whatever he wants. I guess that since he's unretired three times already, I am just done with hearing about it. I only want them to report it when he's ACTUALLY done.
Cash - Yeah, that dress is incredible. I found it on Google Images searching ugly dress.
Wendy - Exactly! Sometimes the headlines even purport that they're actually going to talk about the specifics of it with references to the source, but then there are no references and it's like we have to just believe what they tell us. I wish it were more informative.
Sarah - It's probably pretty expensive, but maybe you can make it yourself out of frayed yarn or something.
Tearese - I agree. Maybe we should shift our 24-hour news so that they're covering more world news.
Laurel - Yeah, it's amazing how much money is spent on advertising, in general. Crazy.
I never watch the news, or anything that keeps me up-to-date with current events, so I hugely enjoyed your mini tirade. I do think that some of the stuff in the news is ridiculous, and what does it have to do with anything? I'll remember not to mention these things the next time I see you. :)
